London born Daisuke Sakaguchi's underlying and inimitable aesthetic expresses his love for art, creative design, the culture that comes with it and the fusion of his Japanese and British heritage.
Sakaguchi's creations are inspired from his huge passion of "Ukiyo-e" - pictures of the floating world - (a genre of Japanese woodblock prints) and "Irezumi" (traditional Japanese tattoos).
Sakaguchi's art work are his very own modern interpretation of this classical art form as a mural of story telling, featuring motifs, landscapes, tales from history, theatrical creatures, fleeting beauty and a realm of entertainment combined with traditional positive iconography.
In 2012, Sakaguchi created the collection of hand painted limited edition Fabergé African Ostrich eggs exclusively for Selfridges London. In the same year Sakaguchi's stunning hand painted transformation of the iconic British 1935 Sir Giles Gilbert Scott K6 BT Phone Box was auctioned at The National Portrait Gallery by Sotheby's; followed by his one off "Chikara" Bicycle Helmet being showcased and sold at the Legacy List 2012 exhibition at the Sotheby's London Gallery.
In his early career, Sakaguchi has exhibited his work at Colette in Paris, Comme des Garcons' Dover Street Market in London and at a solo jewellery catwalk show at Tokyo Fashion Week. Sakaguchi's creations have been modelled by Rihanna and Linda Evangelista and he has designed and produced bespoke statement pieces for Elton John, David Furnish, Kelly Osbourne, Romeo and Brooklyn Beckham along with exclusive mammoth scale murals for David Coulthard, Microsoft and the London Motor Show.
